This Must Be The "New" Companion To Series 1-3 Mar 17, 2006
By Bobby Poe Jr. I am eagerly awaiting this release. I notice that BBC Warner is the studio, so hopefully this version will be of as high technical quality as BBC Warner's release of Series 1-3. The main complaints about the previously available version (by Acorn Media) of Series 4 was that the transfer to DVD was not very good.
Glad to see the Royal Appearance is still included with this new version and right now the price ($19+) is fantastic!
Update: after purchasing this set, I can happily say that the quality of the DVD transfer is on par with the release of Series 1-3. Also, the Royal Appearance episode is really a treat and a much better "ending" for the series than the somewhat bittersweet "Anniversary" episode. One of the few series I'll want to go back to and watch again and again for all time.
Now if someone would just release "The Norman Conquests" (which features Richard Briers & Penelope Keith as husband and wife and stars Tom Conti in a fantastic performance) and "Lovejoy" (in an upgraded, reasonably priced box set), my life would be complete...

The best of classic BBC May 19, 2006
By AnnaMaria Jackson Good Neighbors still stands head and shoulders above many classic Britcoms as the funniest and most engaging. The situations and actors are brilliant (this is arguably Penelope Keith's best role), and its filled with enough wit, double entendre, and genuine silliness to make it enjoyable over and over again. Regardless of which position you are in the rat race, you'll find this series hilarious and meaningful. Be sure to get every season - its definitely worth it! (This DVD contains series 4 and the royal performance filmed later)

Does it really have to end? Jul 24, 2006
By LadyBelle I am a Good Neighbors fanatic. I've only been a fan for about a year and a half and I cannot get enough of the Good Life! I have watched the whole series strait through about 8 to 10 times and it never gets old. Just like some of the other reviewers have stated, "Everytime I watch this series I seem to catch onto something else that I haven't caught onto before, it's just that GOOD!" For some reason I am a bigger fan of the older british comedies than of the newer ones. Good Neighbors is definitely in my top two, right after As Time Goes By, with the awesome Judy Dench. I wish that I could have as interesting friends as the Leadbetters', or the Goods'. These characters are fascinating to watch during the in and outs of both their individual lives, and also of the whitty friendship between the two neighbors. Don't be put off just because this is an older brit comedy. Good Neighbors is one of the best that brit comedy has to offer. You will find yourself watching it over and over again like me. I just wish that such great shows as this one, could go on forever (or at least a little bit longer that this one did). Oh well, at least all of these terrific actors went onto play great roles in something else which we are able to also purchase on amazon, and thank goodness for that!

Good Neighbors - great Britcom Jan 11, 2007
By Ricky J. Gray For people sick of the Hollywood bilge, these shows were ground-breaking in the '70's and still worth every minute of viewing today. We adore it! We watch them regularly - wishing they had never stopped production. These are nothing like some of the more "racey" British comedies such as Benny Hill or as "madcap" as Mr. Bean. They have made Anglophiles of us. Series 1 thru 3 are equally top-rate!

Britain's Best Jan 03, 2008

This is absolutely the best Britcom ever! It is just too bad that the show ended because we want more!! Even my kids, ages 10-15, love watching these episodes. We pull these out often and they are always a refreshing alternative to today's tv.
